On April 20, 1923, Ernesto Antonio "Tito" Puente "El Rey del Timbal" was born in New York. A legendary timbalero, vibraphone player, composer, arranger, producer, and music director of his own orchestra, Tito was a true icon and absolute reference of mambo, salsa and Latin / Jazz music worldwide!
In honor of what would have been his 97th birthday, we knew that we would do a tribute to El Rey. However, doing so has proven to be the most difficult tribute that we have done! Tito's discography includes records; all with plenty of music from which to choose. For this tribute, we have included an hour worth of some of our favorites. We apologize if we have let out your favorites, but hope that you will enjoy the tribute!
