ABOUT THIS ONLINE SPANISH COURSE
LEVEL: BEGINNER
Introducción
In language as in performance, a strong foundation is the basis for developing the core knowledge, strategies, and fluidity to speak Spanish with confidence. The textbook that we use prepares students with that strong foundation through the use of real, everyday situations that move the student from Spanish learner to Spanish speaker. With the confidence that students gain from the strong building blocks that we provide, they can take center stage in using Spanish to communicate with others both inside and outside the classroom walls. This 12-chapter introductory program takes a highly practical approach with a simple chapter structure, activities in the core textbook that students find relevant and reflective of everyday conversations, a wealth of teaching, learning, and practice resources.

¡En acción!
The first activity in each grammar-related ¡En acción! section is ¡Oye!, an interactive listening activity where students hear the structure in context and give simple responses in the instructor-directed follow up. Each ¡Oye! is then followed by a series of varied and often unique activities carefully sequenced for building communication skills.

Tu mundo cultural
Appearing in each Escena, this section presents a cultural topic related to the theme of the chapter. These carefully selected topics provide insights into the everyday life of various cultures of the Hispanic world. Special emphasis is given to traditions originating in Spanish-speaking countries that can also be found in Hispanic communities in the United States. The reading is followed by activities that ask students to compare with Hispanic cultures. ¿Qué aprendiste? activity guides students in identifying the key points in the reading; the Actividad cultural provides a hands-on task for applying the cultural insights learned; and, finally, the Contraste cultural stimulates students to look at aspects of their own culture through different eyes by comparing them to what they have learned about aspects of the Hispanic world.
