Naborí Salsa Orchestra will surely go down in history as one of the finest groups to have produced original salsa music! At this point, you are probably thinking that this is such a strong statement that it must be somewhat of an exaggeration, but I assure you that I do not make such statements lightly. I have witnessed Naborí's evolution since the release of their first production "Historias Del Barrio" in 2008. I have seen and heard their live performances; such as their performances at the Chicago International Salsa Congress and the St. Louis International Salsa Congress, and I can attest that this band, under the direction and leadership of percussionist, Wichy Ayala and vocalist, Roberto Figueroa, has found the at times elusive "swing" that all bands seek to achieve.

Upon forming the band, Wichy and Roberto established its mission as that of creating and performing original salsa music in the tradition of the salsa explosion of the seventies. To this end, they have been very successful. Indeed, the band has produced an impressive string of original music that adheres to the very traditions that they spoke of; such as the basic son montuno model of theh verse section, followed by a call-and-response chorus section known as the montuno, the fundamental rhythmic pattern, the concept in salsa music known as la clave, and story-telling delivered by a seasoned sonero; who has the ability to improvise between repeating montunos. In all of these traditional aspects of salsa music, Naborí has excelled!

Naborí's latest production, "De Nuevo En El Solar," includes eight original recordings and illustrates, as stated in their website, "a higher level of musical sophistication;" which I will simply refer to as "swing." Perhaps the song that best demonstrates this swing is the tune "Mi Chele Cumbae." Whether you are a dancer, or casual listener of salsa music, you will literally swing along with the instrumentation and vocalizations of these talented musicians during this song! I assure you that this swing is found in all eight of these recordings, of various tempos. With the utmost sincerity, I can tell you that Naborí's cd, "De Nuevo En El Solar," is one that must be added to your collection.

¡Naborí Salsa Orchestra sin duda pasará a la historia como uno de los mejores grupos que ha producido música original de salsa! En este punto, estarás pensando que esto es una declaración tan fuerte que debe de ser algo exagerado, pero te aseguro que yo no hago estas declaraciones a la ligera. He sido testigo a la evolución de Naborí desde el lanzamiento de su primera producción "Historias Del Barrio" en 2008. He visto y oído sus actuaciones en vivo; tales como sus actuaciones en el Chicago International Salsa Congress y el St. Louis International Salsa Congress, y puedo dar fe de que esta banda, bajo la dirección y liderazgo del percusionista, Wichy Ayala y del vocalista, Roberto Figueroa, ha encontrado el swing a veces tan difícil de alcanzar que todas las bandas buscan lorgrar.

Tras la formación de la banda, Wichy y Roberto establecieron su misión como la de la creación y la realización de la música salsa original en la tradición de la explosión salsera de los años setenta. Para ello, han tenido mucho éxito. En efecto, la banda ha producido una impresionante cadena de música original que se adhiere a las mismas tradiciones de que hablaban; tales como el modelo básico del son montuno de la sección versista, seguido por una sección corista de llamada y respuesta conocida como el montuno, el patrón rítmico fundamental, el concepto en la música salsa conocido como la clave, y la narración oral entregada por un sonero experimentado; que tiene la capacidad de improvisación entre los montunos. En todos estos aspectos tradicionales de la música salsa, ¡Naborí se ha destacado!

La última producción de Naborí, "De Nuevo En El Solar", incluye ocho grabaciones originales e ilustra, tal como se indica en su página web, "un mayor nivel de sofisticación musical;" a la cual yo simplemente la llamo "swing". Tal vez el tema que mejor demuestre este "swing" es el tema "Mi chele cumbae." ¡Ya que seas bailarín u oyente ocasional de la salsa, literalmente estarás en el pleno goce con la instrumentación y vocalización de estos talentosos músicos durante este tema! Te aseguro que este "swing" se encuentra en todas las ocho grabaciones de tempos variados. Con la mayor sinceridad, te puedo decir que el cd de Naborí, "De Nuevo En El Solar", es uno que hay que adicionar a tu colección.
