Marta Nicholas, a veteran radio personality and part of the WHPK International Format at WHPK, 88.5 fm, Chicago, hosts the show, Music Around the World, where her meandering musical magical-mystery mind weaves together the sounds of (and interesting facts about) all sorts of music from all over the globe - from rare field recordings of long-ago isolated tribes in faraway places, to contemporary urban pop songs from all continents. Sometimes she has in-studio or phone chats with musicians, composers and producers. Also, she regularly gives information about live performances in the Chicago area (and often offers free tickets), plus information about ethnic festivals, films, exhibitions, and other presentations.
